[Attention Windows Vista Users]

Welcome to the Hauppauge PVR-250 hardware driver upgrade and installation walkthrough. This walkthrough is designed to take you through the steps necessary to install/upgrade the drivers for your SnapStream PVR-250 capture card.
  1. Download the drivers for the PVR-250 (version 1.18.021.22254*) here. Save the file to your hard disk in a location you can remember.

*NOTE - Newer revisions of Hauppauge drivers are indicated by the last 5 digits, which is the build number.  (EX./ For version 1.18.021.22254, the build number is "22254".)

  2. Download HCWCLEAR here and save the file to the same location you saved the zip file.
  3. Extract the zip file for the PVR-250 drivers you downloaded to a folder you can remember.
  4. Close all open applications.
  5. Double-click on the HCWCLEAR.EXE file and you'll see:

  6. Choose "Remove All WinTV Driver Files" and click OK. Click Yes on the next screen that appears.

Verifying Your Installation

To verify that all devices are installed, right click on your My Computer icon, and left-click on "Manage" to bring up the Computer Management window. Left-click on "Device Manager" in the left pane, and you will see a list of device categories on the right side. Scroll down if necessary on the right, and left-click the plus (+) sign next to "Sound, video, and game controllers". You will see something like this (Figure 9):

(Figure 9)

Your list of drivers under here may be different, but there will be a "Hauppauge WinTV-PVR PCI II" entry like the one shown in (Figure 9). If you see Hauppauge WinTV-PVR PCI II as it appears above with no (!) exclamation points or red X marks, everything has installed properly, you may close the Computer Management window.

Driver installation and upgrade is complete!
