Snapstream Previews Next Generation Consumer TV Recording Solution
Intel Developer Forum is Host to Advance Demonstrations of Quartz Version of SnapStream Personal Video Station, Including Live TV Viewing, Burn to CD Support, and Integrated Television Listings.

February 26, 2002 (INTEL DEVELOPER FORUM – BOOTH #309) - SnapStream Media, a leading developer of digital entertainment software, is previewing the next version of its TV recording solution at this week’s Intel Developer Forum (IDF) in San Francisco alongside Compaq Corporation., The Quartz release of SnapStream’s Personal Video Station (PVS), anticipated in March 2002, will extend current product abilities to include live TV viewing, burn to CD support, and full integration with SnapStream.NET, SnapStream’s own television program guide accessible from any Internet connected server.

SnapStream PVS, designed to record television for access on home networks, PCs or Pocket PCs, is a low-cost consumer entertainment application. SnapStream allows users to record favorite television programs for anywhere, anytime viewing on portable devices such as laptops or PDAs. In contrast to expensive, dedicated hardware devices, SnapStream is an inexpensive add-on to the existing home PC, and enables and embraces the connected home paradigm by bringing television recordings to any network device.

“The Quartz release of SnapStream makes it even easier for our users to enjoy their favorite television anytime, anywhere. New live television viewing and burn to CD features mean that SnapStream is now a complete solution for TV viewing and recording on the PC,” said Rakesh Agrawal, CEO and co-founder, SnapStream Media. “SnapStream.NET, SnapStream’s own TV listings service, takes our simplicity even further by allowing satellite, cable, and antenna users in the United States to find, watch or record their favorite shows.”

SnapStream.NET Services, also scheduled for availability in March 2002, work with SnapStream PVS to provide TV listings and access to SnapStream Anywhere™. The TV listings portion of SnapStream.NET make it easy for a user to set-up intelligent recordings of their favorite shows – for example, regular recording of every episode of a particular show. SnapStream PVS automatically records them, regardless of the channel or timing of broadcasts. The SnapStream Anywhere™ feature allows users to record or watch favorite TV shows from any Internet connected server.

SnapStream PVS is currently shipping. The Quartz release is available for advance editorial preview upon request. Editors interested in advance product reviews should contact the company at pr@snapstream.com.
