This screenshot shows the Edit page for a DivX Quality profile. The "Create" page is the same, except with respect to the "Save" buttons at the bottom.

Use the "Show more options" dropdown located at the top of the listing to display all options available.

Name
The name that will be used when referring to the Quality profile being edited.

Type
The video format used by the Quality profile being edited.

Audio Frequency
Specifies the sampling frequency for the audio track.

Frames per second
The frames (images) used per second in the recording. The more frames per second used, the smoother motion will appear in the recording. The practical upper limit on this value is 29.97*

Dimensions (pixels)

The dimensions, or resolution, of the recording. The higher this setting, the greater the clarity of pictures in the recording.

Two Pass Encoding

Runs the encoding step twice in an attempt to increase the quality of the compressed file. Approximately doubles the time required to showsqueeze.

Average Video Bitrate

The bitrate (bits used per second), or size, used by the video portion of a recording. Measured in kilobits, or 1000 bits used. A value of 5000 here equates to 5000000 bits per second.

Audio Bitrate

Specifies the bitrate (bits used per second), or size, used by the audio portion of a recording.

DivX ShowSqueeze Resize Style

Specifies the method by which the ShowSqueeze process will resize recordings if the source file's resolution differ from the target file's resolution. The following options are available:
·Disabled: Keeps the same resolution as the source file.
·Keep Aspect Ratio: Adjusts the height value of the target quality so that the target file matches the aspect ratio of the original.
·Enabled: Resizes the recording so that the target file's resolution matches what is specified in its Quality profile.

DivX ShowSqueeze Resize Algorithm
Specifies the method by which resizing is achieved. The following options are available:
·Bilinear: Generally (along with Bicubic Soft) the best selection when reducing the resolution of a recording. When reducing resolution, this method emphasizes the smoothness of an image, avoiding the "jagged" or "blocky" appearance generally associated with the Bicubic method. This method is not recommended when increasing resolution.
·Bicubic: Emphasizes the sharpness of an image. Generally the best choice when increasing the resolution of a recording.
·Sharp: This is the standard by which Bicubic resizing is usually judged. This places a bias on the sharpness (vs. smoothness) of an image.
·Normal:This method place equal emphasis on sharpness and smoothness of an image.
·Soft: This method is often compared to the Bilinear method of resizing, which places a bias on the smoothness (vs. sharpness) of an image.

DivX Bidirectional Frames
Set to 0 to disable Bidirectional Encoding, or select one or two bidirectional frames per group in order to attempt to achieve higher compression rates. This is a DivX specific setting; see the DivX documentation for more information.

DivX Noise Filtering Mode
Attempts to clear up graphical anomalies present in the source file. This is a DivX specific setting; see the DivX documentation for more information.

DivX Performance Mode
Sets the bias between time / processor usage, and performance, during encoding. Choices range from fastest to very slow. This is a DivX specific setting; see the DivX documentation for more information.

Divx Psychovisual Mode
Generally speaking, "Shaping" should be used for live movies, and "Masking" for traditional animated movies (cartoons). This is a DivX specific setting; see the DivX documentation for more information.

·If editing a Quality profile, hit the Save Changes button to save the modifications to the profile being edited.
·If creating a new Quality profile, hit the Save as New button to save the changes to the profile being created. If editing an existing profile as a template for an entirely new profile, be sure to change the "Friendly Name" value before hitting Save as New.
