BTV Records From Wrong Tuner
Home  Previous  Next

In some multiple tuner setups, the user may note that a given recording is being performed by an undesired tuner, or is being saved in an undesired format. See the following examples and their solutions.

HDTV / Digital, vs. Analog
In this example, a user's setup employs both HDTV and Regular (analog) Cable. The user wishes to record from HDTV, but instead the recording occurs on one of the analog channels (or vice-versa).
The solution to this problem is to select the recording from the correct channel. HDTV will appear in the thousands range (e.g. channel 1013), so be sure to check the channel on which the recording appears when scheduling.

Digital Cable vs. Analog Cable
In this scenario, a user's setup includes both Digital Cable and Regular (analog) Cable. The user wishes to record from the Regular Cable input to ensure that the Digital Cable box is free for use (or vice-versa).

By default, Beyond TV will use the highest priority tuner card capable of making the recording. To raise or lower the priority of a tuner device, connect to the Web Admin interface's Audio and Video Inputs page and use the Up or Down buttons to raise or lower the priority of the appropriate recording. To ensure that -- as in the given example -- the Digital Cable input is used the least, move it to the bottom of the list. To ensure that it is used the most, move it to the top of the list.
