Video but no audio in Setup Wizard

1.Ensure your sound device works

Can you play recordings or sound files on your computer and hear audio? If not, you may simply need to adjust the sound levels (START BUTTON --> RUN --> SNDVOL32) of your sound card to be    able to hear the audio.

2.Ensure that your audio is connected properly.

In Hardware Encoder tuner device setups (such as the Hauppauge WinTV PVR-250 / 250BTV / 350 / USB 2.0, and the Adaptec VideOh! Media Center Edition USB 2.0), the audio must be connected to the tuner device itself, and not to the computer's sound device inputs. Note that S-Video inputs do not carry audio, thus the audio must be supplied using either the provided composite audio inputs or 1/8" stereo plug. See the manufacturer's documentation for more details.

In Non-Hardware Encoder tuner device setups, the audio must be connected to the tuner device, and from there, to your computer's Line-In input.

3.Ensure that your audio device's drivers are updated properly.

Go to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com in order to receive the latest Microsoft-approved audo drivers for your device. After the updater scans for available updates, install the audio device drivers, if available, appearing in the "driver updates" section. Run the Setup WIzard again to check for any change.

4.For ATI All-In-Wonder and nVidia Personal Cinema Devices only:

Ensure that sound works in the manufacturer's TV-viewing software first. These devices will default to "VIVO" mode in the Setup Wizard, and some sound devices (most notably, some Dolby sound setups and bluetooth devices) cannot play the audio properly. In this case, ignore the Setup Wizard and continue to Beyond TV. From Windowed or Full-Screen mode, go to SETTINGS --> GENERAL SETTINGS Video Renderer. Set this value to "3D Accelerated" and verify that sound now functions properly in Live TV.

5.For the All-In-Wonder device specifically, updating to a newer version of the Catalyst capture drivers can cause this problem.

Please download Beyond TV version 3.7.2, now available from the appropriate Download section. Remember to use the Setup Wizard to delete, and re-create, the Video Sources used by the All-In-Wonder device to update them once the new drivers have been installed.

If none of the preceding enables you to get sound in the Setup Wizard, please proceed to Beyond TV to further troubleshoot the problem from there. Make a short recording and, when it is finished, check it for audio. If there is no audio, please use one of the methods described in Contacting Support to get further assistance.
