Hauppauge PVR-250BTV Driver Installation

[Attention Windows Vista Users]

Welcome to the hardware driver installation walkthrough. This walkthrough is designed to take you through the steps necessary to install the drivers for your SnapStream PVR-250BTV capture card.
  1. Download the drivers for the PVR-250BTV here.
  2. Save the file to your hard disk in a location you will remember.
  3. Close all open applications (including Beyond TV).
  4. Double-click on the downloaded file to start the driver installation program. Click Next two times, then Finish, on the final screen. When you are asked to restart the computer, press OK.

IMPORTANT: These drivers perform a hardware clear of Hauppauge drivers before installation, if you have any other Hauppauge products installed, you may be required to reinstall the drivers and associated applications to continue using them. This may also affect users of other tuner cards also. After driver installation of your PVR-250BTV, continue on and reinstall your drivers for other cards if necessary by following the manufacturer's instructions.

Multituner install: If you are installing this after another Hauppauge Tuner, you will have to reinstall the other tuner drivers after this card is installed. If your other tuner is another PVR-250BTV, you will go through the Hardware detection and installation prodecure for each card and only have to run the driver installer program from this page once. This procedure will update both PVR-250BTV cards' drivers.

PLEASE NOTE:

  •  These screens are taken from Windows XP SP2. Windows XP pre-SP2 and Windows 2000 users, skip (Figure 1), and proceed to (Figure 2).
  •  If you receive a pop-up window stating that the drivers are not "Digitally Signed", select the "Continue Installing" button. Failure to do so will result in an incorrect installation. Under no circumstances should you "Stop Installation", or the card will not work properly!

Verifying Your Installation

To verify that all devices are installed, right click on your My Computer icon, and left-click on "Manage" to bring up the Computer Management window. Left-click on "Device Manager" in the left pane, and you will see a list of device categories on the right side. Scroll down if necessary on the right, and left-click the plus (+) sign next to "Sound, video, and game controllers". You will see something like this (Figure 21).

(Figure 21)

Your list of drivers under here may be different, but there will be five "Hauppauge WinTV 88x" entries like those shown in (Figure 21). If you see all five (Audio, Crossbar, MPEG Encoder, Tuner, and Video (MPEG+Front)), with no (!) exclamation points or red X marks, everything has installed properly, you may close this window.

Driver installation is complete!
