The Story Behind TV Search

We're a Houston-based software company focused on solving "TV search" problems for our customers. SnapStream allows organizations to easily and reliably record LOTS of television and then search inside those TV shows to find mentions of... whatever they might be looking for. Used by government agencies, K-12 schools, universities, broadcasters and many others, SnapStream's TV search technology is vital to hundreds of organizations.

While we're best known nowadays for our TV search appliance, SnapStream was an early-millennial player in the consumer space of PC DVRs (see: Beyond TV). Microsoft's Bill Gates, Intel's Paul Otellini and Intel's Craig Barrett have showcased SnapStream's consumer products, which earned PC Magazine's "Product of the Year 2004" award. In mid-2007, the team re-engineered the successful home recording software for enterprise-grade TV monitoring and search.

SnapStream appliance

Launched in 2008, SnapStream's turnkey television search appliance continues to offer organizations a centralized TV monitoring solution with powerful, easy-to-use features.

With the latest generation of our TV recording and search platform, customers can cluster multiple SnapStream appliances together, to record and search a limitless number of TV channels and shows.

Case in point: In April 2010, SnapStream showcased its advanced TV recording and search technology with a 50-channel TV search engine. Our "monster DVR," that can store 13 years worth of TV content, scored the praises of Engadget and Gizmodo.
