Creating Clips
Home  Previous  Next

The Clipping function allows the user to extract a segment of a completed or in-progress recording and create an individual "clip" file of that segment. To create a clip, follow the instructions below.
1.If using the mouse, first bring up the Clip interface by clicking the scissors icon scissorsicon on the toolbar. This will display a menu above the playback track bar:

cliphud_initial

2.Set the start position of the clip. First, navigate to the desired position by either dragging the position indicator to the desired time, or by using fast-forward / rewind, and skip, options. Then, click the Set Start button, or press Z on the keyboard, to mark the start position. The display will change to indicate the Start point:

cliphud_setstart

3.Set the end position of the clip. Navigate to the desired position, then either click the Set End button, or press X on the keyboard, to mark the end position. The display will change to indicate the End point:

cliphud_setend

4.Make any adjustments necessary.
·Using the mouse, the Start and End points of the clip can be modified by dragging them to the desired location. To do so, place the mouse pointer directly over the triangle abutting the Start or End point, then drag and drop the indicator to the new position.
·The Z and X keys will also work to reset the Start and End points.
·The V and B keys will skip to the currently defined start and end points, respectively.

5.Clip the recording. Press the C button, or click the "Clip" button, to create the Clip. You will be prompted to enter a name for the clip.

clipname
The name you enter here will be appended to the filename of the clip.

The following message will appear to indicate that the clip creation process has begun.

Click OK, or hit OK on the remote or Enter on the keyboard, to dismiss the dialog. When the clip creation process is finished, the clip will appear in the Clip and All listings of the Recorded Shows menu, marked with a film icon (filmicon) to indicate that it is a clip, rather than a full recording. All of the show's metadata, including the description from the Program Guide and the closed-captioning data, will travel with the new file.
