Overriding Recording Defaults

After selecting "View and edit details" on a recording job from the "Recording Settings and Priorities" screen, the following information will be displayed.


The following attributes of the recording job can be modified:

Scheduled to record
This option enables the user to change a recording job scheduled via the SnapStream.Net Program Guide to "All Episodes" or to "All New Episodes." This option is not available on manually scheduled recording jobs.

Record on
Specifies which channel the show is to be recorded on. Select the original channel on which the recording was scheduled, or "Any channel" to record this show regardless of the channel on which it airs.

Record from
Specifies which tuner card will record the show. It is recommended to leave this setting on "Any available input" so that the scheduling system is given maximum flexibility in organizing recording jobs to ensure that the greatest number of desired recordings are created.

Quality
The quality profile used to create the recording.

ShowSqueeze
Specifies whether or not the recording, once created, should be ShowSqueezed to change its format and / or to save space. If enabled, the following options will be made available:

Intelligent Quality Selection

Enable this feature to allow the software to decide the quality profile to use when creating the new file. This feature attempts to choose a quality profile that will maintain the same level of video quality as the original.

Showsqueeze Quality (only available if "Intelligent Quality Selection" is disabled)

Defines the quality profile to use when creating the new file.

Delete Source on Completion

Specifies whether or not the SnapStream Enterprise TV Server will delete the file on which it performed the ShowSqueeze operation (the source) after the new file (the target) has been created.

SmartSkip
Governs if and how the software should generate SmartChapters in a recording based on commercial breaks.

Disabled: SmartChapters will not be generated.

·

Generate During Off Peak Times: SmartChapters will be generated only during "Off-peak times," which are configured in ShowSqueeze and SmartSkip Settings.

Generate Immediately: SmartChapters will be generated during any time of the day. The SmartChapter job will be added to the queued in the list of tasks displayed in the "ShowSqueeze" section of the Web Admin interface.

Keep Until
Specifies if the software should delete this recording if space is needed for another recording.

Keep until space is needed: This file will be deleted if it is the oldest recording on a hard drive upon which space is needed for another recording.

·

Keep until I delete it: This recording will never be deleted automatically.

Max Number of Shows
This number corresponds to the maximum number of shows that will be created by a recording job of the "Record All" or "Record All New" type. This does not limit the number of recordings that the recording job will generate; it only limits the number of recordings that currently exist on the system. If, for example, three recordings of "Aqua Teen Hunger Force" already exist on the system and the recording job wants to create another recording, the SnapStream Enterprise TV Server will delete the oldest recording created by the job in order to "make room" for the new one.

Max Number of Days
This is the age of the oldest show in this series. Once a show in this recording job reaches this many days old, it will be expired and deleted.

Start the recording
Enables the user to modify the start time of the recording by up to three hours.

Stop the recording
Enables the user to adjust the stop time of the recording by up to three hours.
