SnapStream Personal Video Station Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) Feature Previewed During Keynote at the Intel Developer Forum
September 16, 2003 (SAN JOSE) – SnapStream Personal Video Station 3, award-winning PC-based software for TV recording, was featured today by Intel President and COO, Paul Otellini, at the Intel Developer Forum, Fall 2003. The key feature highlighted was Personal Video
Station's upcoming support of Universal Plug and Play (UPnP). With UPnP, TV shows recorded with SnapStream Personal Video Station will automatically be accessible and viewable by other UPnP-enabled hardware and software on the home network.
“We are happy to see SnapStream supporting UPnP in their PVR software, which we believe is a next step in enabling the interoperable home network that will make the digital home a reality for consumers,” said Louis Burns, vice president and co-general manager, Intel’s Desktop
Platforms Group. For example, with Personal Video Station's upcoming UPnP capabilities, a UPnP-enabled digital media adapter or set-top box in the living room, such as the Prismiq MediaPlayer or a Hauppauge MVP, could automatically access Personal Video Station-recorded TV shows -- requiring no
additional configuration or searching on the part of the user.
SnapStream Media’s President and CEO, Rakesh Agrawal, says, “We’re excited to be announcing support for UPnP today in our award-winning PVR product, Personal Video Station. And we're even more excited that Intel is showcasing SnapStream as a part of its digital home
initiative here at the Intel Developer Forum. UPnP is important to us at SnapStream because it enables users to easily and effortlessly access all their favorite TV shows recorded with SnapStream on devices throughout the house. As consumers are surrounded by more and more devices every day,
UPnP's importance will increase exponentially.”
