SnapStream Announces Added Support for DivX 6.1 and Intel Hyper-Threading
and Dual-Core Optimizations
Beyond TV 4.3 is First DVR Software to Support DivX 6.1
Houston, June 8, 2006- SnapStream Media, Inc., a leader in
digital home entertainment products, announced today the release of Beyond
TV 4.3,
which builds on the success of SnapStream Media’s award-winning digital
video recording (DVR) software.
Beyond TV 4.3 is the first software application to integrate DivX 6.1, which
includes Intel Hyper-Threaded (HT) and dual-core processor optimizations. Added
support for the DivX 6.1 video codec enables Intel dual-core PCs to encode
up to 300 percent faster. Additionally, Beyond TV 4.3 offers support for compression
of HDTV recordings to DivX format in high-definition.
DivX 6.1 produces higher quality output with smaller file sizes, allowing
users to compress video files without sacrificing video quality. DivX 6.1 now
includes full support for single CPU, HT, dual CPU (SMP) and dual-core processors.
While DivX 6.1 is optimized for dual core and multi-threaded systems, encoding
performance is improved on systems with a single CPU as well.
"Beyond TV 4.3’s support for DivX 6.1 will allow Beyond TV users
to take advantage of cutting-edge DivX technology," said Rakesh Agrawal,
president and CEO of SnapStream Media. "The optimizations for Intel
dual core and multi-threaded systems mean our users will have a better overall
DVR
experience when using DivX on Intel-processor machines."
"SnapStream Media's decision to integrate the optimized DivX 6.1 encoder
in their Beyond TV PC DVR product demonstrates the widespread support for our
current Intel Core Duo and upcoming Core 2 Duo processors," said Don MacDonald,
vice president, Digital Home Group, Intel Corporation. "Our latest processors
offer developers exciting opportunities as they break new ground in terms of
performance and energy savings. For example, Intel's Core 2 Duo processors
will deliver significant increased performance over existing dual-core processors
with an equally impressive reduction in energy consumption."
"The optimizations for dual-core and hyper-threaded processors that
we’ve added to DivX will give Beyond TV users faster and better DVR performance
than ever before," said David Lubinsky, Director SW Product Management
at DivX, Inc. "We’re excited to work with both SnapStream
and Intel to bring a cutting-edge digital video experience to users."
