This screenshot shows the Edit page for an MPEG-2 Quality profile. The "Create" page is the same, except with respect to the "Save" buttons at the bottom. The Edit / Create page, with the Windows Media format selected, is quite different from the MPEG-2 example above and is presented in the Add / Edit Windows Media Quality section.

Use the "Show more options" dropdown located at the top of the listing to display all options available.

Name
The name Beyond TV will use when referring to the Quality profile being edited.

Type
The video format used by the Quality profile being edited.

Audio Frequency
Specifies the sampling frequency for the audio track.

Audio Bitrate

Specifies the bitrate (bits used per second), or size, used by the audio portion of a recording.

Frames per second
The frames (images) used per second in the recording. The more frames per second used, the smoother motion will appear in the recording. The practical upper limit on this value is 29.97*

Dimensions (pixels)

The dimensions, or resolution, of the recording. The higher this setting, the greater the clarity of pictures in the recording.

Average Video Bitrate

The bitrate (bits used per second), or size, used by the video portion of a recording. Measured in kilobits, or 1000 bits used. A value of 5000 here equates to 5000000 bits per second.

Variable Bitrate Encoding

When checked, this box enables Variable Bitrate Encoding, which creates smaller recordings at no sacrifice in quality. Once enabled, set a Base (lowest bitrate / video quality) and Peak (highest bitrate / video quality) value. In the example above, the bitrate will neither go below 5000 kbps nor higher than 9000 kbps.

MPEG-2 Stream Type
Ensures that the formatting of the MPEG-2 data is prepared for DVD (DVD Stream) or SVCD (SVCD Stream). The Program Stream option will not format the MPEG-2 data for any particular use.*

Bidrectional (Interpolative) Frames Per Group
The number of B frames used per group in the MPEG-2 stream.*

Predictive Frames Per Group
The number of P frames used per group in the MPEG-2 stream.*

*These are advanced options that should only be modified by experienced users, as they may render the video unreadable by some programs.
